A while ago we had the same issue. Precision door came and the person explained everything really well. This time the person seemed less sure of what the problem was. The solution was to move a screw from a stripped hole to another where the wood wasn't stripped, but it doesn't explain why the little motor wasn't moving before. And if the force of the spring will eventually strip the wood again, this doesn't seem like a reliable solution.

Mike Rotermund from Precision arrived promptly in a company truck fully equipped with all the necessary repair parts. He had to replaced a cable and cut a new cable to length to match. Mike made the adjustments and during the process and was explaining the steps. Learned a lot from him on how a well adjusted door should operate. I recommend this company and will hire them again.
I had a bad experience from a fly by night outfit. They sent a contract technician (Middle Eastern accent) that caused the above problem. Stay away from this type of outfit just to save few bucks.

If you need to replace your old worn out garage door opener, you can't go wrong with Precision. I used them this spring to replace both of mine but at different times.
